Your experience and insight is invaluable not only for newcomers, but also for those who’ve maybe been around the block a few times already. We are in agreement that those wanting to enter the field are being told or led to believe by too many that voice-over is a quick way to a comfortable lifestyle. Well, owning a stove does not make one a chef, so being able to read and speak is – thankfully – not enough to be a competitive voice talent.

As they say, “It’s nice work if you can get it.” But getting it – literally and figuratively – is the key.

Right now, I’m working on that all-important 80%! This is the part that most people don’t see They simply go to market and buy the fruit and vegetables without realizing how much work has gone into getting them there in the first place.

It’s also the part that budding voice-overs almost always underestimate. As they rightly say: show business is mostly business with a little bit of show.
